Have You Tried This Yet? P&G Campaign

You might have noticed on Facebook that I had the pleasure of visiting with Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) during their Have You Tried This Yet? campaign in South Beach (Miami, Florida.)

Present at this event were bloggers, consumers, moms, dads – people who are looking for the quality and simplicity of P&G’s everyday solution items. Also in appearance were Jim Leish (Marketing Director for P&G), Nataraj Iyer (Associate Marketing Director at P&G), Marsha Chilko (Senior Beauty Education Manager), Roxana Garcia (Hispanic TV Host and Radio Personality), as well as Dr. Michelle R. Callahan  (psychologist and life coach).

Some interesting facts that P&G shared were that they spent nearly $2 billion in research and development in 2010 – 50% more than their closest competitor and more than most of their competitors combined. Marsha shared that lipstick hues popular this season include corals and pinks. Having a blue undertone helps your teeth appear whiter (as do Oral-B Pro-Health products – wink.) I also appreciated Michelle’s advice on simplifying your life by picking up as much as you can at one location – I cannot tell you how often I chase deals around town.

P&G Products to Try Out and Their Product Claim:

  • Pantene® Medium-Thick: Focuses on smoothing the hair even after the second day of wash.
  • Oral-B®/Crest® Pro-Health Products: Removes plaque and bacteria build-up quicker than the average, manual toothbrush.
  • Puffs®Lotion: Intense mositurizer to comfort your face and nose in times when you most need it.
  • COVERGIRL® LashBlast Fusion: Beyond volume, this mascara offers length – a two for one special for me!
  • Charmin®Ultra Soft: More absorbant and softer than the typical store brand. Impressive demonstration how how moisture is absorbed.
  • Downy®Clean Breeze: Imagine a week of smelling the “just out of the dryer” freshness in your clothes.
  • Tide® Original with ActiLift: Removing even dry stains from your clothing.
  • Swiffer®WetJet: Quickly cleans your floors compared to the mop and bucket.
  • Gillette®ProGlide Razor & Scrub: Reducing the tug of the razor against the air, and TRULY WARMING the skin preparing it for a shave.

If the words don’t do justice, be sure to check out what Cover Girl did for my face and Pantene did for my hair! My favorite stations had to be the trial of these beauty products. Speaking with a stylist, he shared with me how each of the Pantene products could protect, condition, and hold my hair.  The Medium-Thick Hairspray held my waves in place into the night and through the next morning. Chatting with my friend and Frugal Coupon Living helper, I shared with her how I was in rut with my lipstick. I have been using the same color and buying the same products for years. Sitting with a makeup artist, she helped me branch out, introducing me to a new color called “kiss” that had coral undertones perfect for my skin color. She also taught me how to use under the eye liner showing me how to “set” the liner into place by lightly putting powder on top to prevent bleeding.

I also was quite impressed with the Swiffer WetJet. Combining the power of a mop and our beloved Swiffer sweeper, this baby has the power to clean your floors with minimal effort. The Charmin Ultra Soft station compared their toilet paper to the leading competitor.  Three sprays on the roll (mimicking dampness) stays on the top layer, while on the competitor it went down 2 layers.

If you happen to be in the Miami, Florida area, check out the FREE interactive Have You Tried This Yet? Pop-Up experience from  February 18 – 27.  Open to the Public, get demonstrations and product samples from brands such as Pantene®, Oral-B®, Gillette®, Downy®, Swiffer®, COVERGIRL®, and Puffs®.  Visit 843 Lincoln Road Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Be sure to pick up the newspaper Sunday, February 27th. P&G will distribute a brandSAVER with $131 in coupons – I can’t wait! For now, don’t forget that you can get $39 worth of coupons on the Have You Tried This Yet? website.

Disclosure: I was provided a trip to South Beach to visit with P&G and learn more about their products including Pantene, Cover Girl, Tide, Swiffer, Olay and more!

Product Review – Dyson DC35

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

February 21, 2011 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Review

published date: February 21, 2011

You might remember me sharing about the DC31 vacuum. Don’t let the size of the DC31 fool you – this little thing means POWER! Spinning five times faster than a Formula 1 race car, this was a vacuum my family frequently used (multiple times a week.) In fact, recently when our vacuum cleaner was not performing, this hand held was doing most of the house work – that a lot of pressure on 3 lb piece of fine machinery.

Dyson knew I LOVED my fine, little friend, that they gave me the challenge of the next level, the Dyson DC35 or Digital Slim. Similar to the DC31, the DC35 is POWERFUL!

The Digital Slim can also be used on many floor surfaces including carpet, ceramic, vinyl and wood. It is lightweight. The system and attachable aluminum wand are only 4.96 lbs. Easy to lift to the top of your curtains, small enough to tuck under your coffee table or even couch. Improvements include a 26.1 inch detachable long-reach wand, six to 15 minutes of constant suction, and a functional docking station that takes up little room.

Product Features

  • Digital Motor – It spins up to 3 times faster than conventional motors.
  • Root Cyclone™ Technology – spinning dust and dirt straight form your floor to a compact bin.
  • Detachable Long-reach Wand – perfect for high places or awkward gaps.
  • 2.2V Lithium-ion Battery – no power fade and charges 3 times faster than the average battery
  • 2 Year Warranty – covers parts and labor.

The DC35 is my first choice for quick messes. It quickly snaps in and out’s base, requires no plugging in, is INCREDIBLY powerful, and allows me to stand up (if I desire  – no bending over for this cordless vacuum). Light weight, strong suction and efficient – enough said!

Recently, I reached out to Dyson. I was looking for a manual on how to ask your friend back for your Dyson (chuckle). No, my friend was not borrowing my Dyson Vacuum – I gifted her the vacuum when I received a newer, well-known brand vacuum with an MSRP of around $500.  My husband and I chatted and after having two very expensive vacuums on which to giveaway. We figured, we should go with the newer brand since our Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum was 5 years old.  BIG MISTAKE! Within 3 months, the vacuum wasn’t picking up. After spending an hour on the phone with customer support and getting no response after an email, I had a useless vacuum – It wasn’t providing suction. I am not someone who would ask anyone back for a gift that I gave. So I kept moving forward. I wanted Dyson to know I had a tried and true story – I had a terrible experience with a rather expensive vacuum. I am someone who reaches out to companies when I am satisfied with a product (so many companies hear only the negative.)

It turns out, even customer service could not help me with my problem vacuum. The issue ended up being clogged tubes. Why did I never have this issue with Dyson after five years of use?  The secret is Root Cyclone™ technology. That means Dyson vacuums don’t lose suction power as you clean.  Dyson Vacuums generate centrifugal forces that spin dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the bin. The bin pops open for easy, stress-free cleaning. Long story short, in my opinion, when buying an expensive vacuum – go with the brand who knows vacuums, go with Dyson!

Keep an eye out for the new Dyson Airblade hand dryer. I have seen a couple of these in airports and restaurants. It’s fast (12 seconds), hygienic, and is good for the environment. Very impressive!  What’s next Dyson?
