We are back, so is the Elf! If you have been with us a long time, you know we have brought you a new Elf on the Shelf Idea EVERY DAY (in November and December) for the past four years

WELCOME BACK ELF! We have a couple ways for you to reintroduce your Elf into your home. Today we start with a package or a special delivery! Consider cutting a hole through the top of the package and having elf pop through. It’s an adorable idea and your kids will find Elf when they head to school that morning waiting for them on the front porch. Consider adding treats in your box, fake snow, or keep it empty (if the kids don’t need an extra “just because gift!” In our photo, we added some doll house packages. Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas Tradition. The tradition has a book and a elf doll. The book is poetic and in rhyme sharing the purpose of the Elf’s visits. The Elf visits each Thanksgiving. He/She goes and returns from the North Pole each evening. Every morning he can be found in a new location in the house. The Elf has been found in the refrigerator, fishing in the toilet, writing messages on the mirror or hanging from the lights. It is VERY IMPORTANT, the Elf is not touch each evening or his Christmas magic will be lost! Each family is able to name their special elf. Birds of a feather, flock together! It’s been really hard for me to not pull out all the bird quotes I have.

We are back, maybe you are not yet but we are doing our best to get all the Elf on the Shelf Ideas that we can, so when your family welcomes back your Elf, you are ready! For many of these Elf on the Shelf ideas, make sure you have an elf that can bend. You can do that easily with our Bendable Elf on the Shelf tutorial.  This was a great place where a bendable Elf was beneficial – get that wire in him now!

Bird Elf on the Shelf Idea

This idea is not only for the birds, it’s for all of us. We think the kids would find it quite comical.  If you worry your kids would never find Elf outside, have them follow a path of dropped feathers to the yard will Elf awaits on the feeder eating seed.  It was a bit of a balancing act getting him up there. In the first photo, I tucked the tips of the feather underneath the feeder rim and then positioned elf on the metal perch. Clear finishing line would not be a bad idea, to tie him in the place. The higher he is, the less the kids are likely to notice the details.

In the second photo, I used the string that held the feathers in place and weaved it around the bird feeder perch.  I think I prefer the first positioning, as he looks like a bird that is eating but the second idea definitely displays his colorful feathers!

Bird Tip: Have your kids follow a path of feathers outside to find Elf on the Shelf!

You’ve got a friend in me! 

Did you love our Toy Story Party Ideas? If you have seen and used this post, you must be a Toy Story fan, or at least have one in your home! This Toy Story Elf on the Shelf Idea was incredibly simple. We took our Buzz Lightyear toy and had him hug an Elf on the Shelf Woody. We have a woody doll in which the hat easily comes out. I worked hard to try to put the hat on Woody, but it wasn’t happening without some true craft supplies. Maybe I could have used adhesive Velcro on the hat and on the top of Elf’s head. It’s up to you if you wan to go that direction.

Elf on the Shelf Ideas with Toy Story 4 Forky

Our Toy Story 4 Forky is form the Toy Story 4 Forky Craft Kit. This Elf on the Shelf idea with Toy Story was really simplistic, mostly because we had everything we needed. I would suggest Forky is placed in a clean garbage can – don’t have last nights spaghetti in the can. Also use a trash can that not be used the entire day.

Forky, the Toy Story 4 spork, is known for climbing into the trash. He is constructed from a spork, googly eyes, a pipe cleaner, clay, and a Popsicle stick, and a rainbow sticker. He was created by Bonnie, during a difficult first day of kindergarten. Bonnie claims him as hew new toy, but Forky identifies himself as trash thus creating the challenge of keeping him out of the trash and alongside Bonnie.

We played on this challenge with Elf on the Shelf saving Toy Story 4 Forky from the garbage. “I’m not a toy. I’m a spork. I’m trash!”

For this idea you will need a Bendable Elf on the Shelf.  This will allow Elf to hold up the tooth picks for his photo booth props.

While strolling the aisles of Michael’s (with three kids under two – okay it wasn’t a stroll, it was a race), I came across this adorable Photo Booth Sticker Book for only $1. Because I have been doing Elf on the Shelf Ideas since 2011, when I see something of this size my mind immediately races to Elf on the Shelf – it was a perfect fit! Additionally, once I was done with my Funny Elf Idea, I could share the sticker book with the kids who would have many of their own uses for it!

I added toothpicks to the Photo Props Stickers. When the bendable elf wasn’t holding the toothpick well, I inserted the pointy tip slightly into his red fabric – don’t worry, no elves were harmed in this funny elf idea. A few of the photo booth stickers were applied directly to our Elf.
