We all have heard the gingerbread man story. In this classic children’s story, the Gingerbread Man leaps out of the oven and runs away… “can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!”

So who is the Ninjabread man?

What is the Ninjabread Man Story?

Written by C. J. Leigh , in this fun twist on the traditional Gingerbread man tale, four ninjas train to be the strongest, fastest, smartest, and sneakiest in the land. The story follows a very well-executed ninja theme with tons of action, and perfect rhythm, rhyme, and repetition. Will Ninjabread man win?

The Ninjabread Man Elf on the Shelf

Pulling from this funny adapted story, we used a few Elf supplies we had on hand.

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll
  • Elf on the Shelf Costume for Karate/Ninja
  • Elf on the Shelf Gingerbread Man Costume
  • Ribbon
  • Elf on the Shelf Free Ninjabread Man Sign Printable
  • Elf prop stands

This was really easy to put together. WE put on our Elf costumes and used the stand to prop the Elves. We printed and cut the Elf on the Shelf Ninjabread Man printable sign.

How did you get your Elf on the Shelf to stand?

Getting your Elf to stand can be quite trick. There are a few resources for getting Elf on the to stand. You can wire your Elf to make him bendable and strong, though this system doesn’t always support Elf for standing. You can get the Elf on the Shelf prop stand. Lastly, Scout Elf now has some fun Elf on the Shelf legs for standing.

In the case for Ninjabread Elf on the Shelf man, we used an Elf prop stand. We masked them behind the Elf costumes and under the wooden board.

Elf on the Shelf DIY Dollar Tree Ornament

We are back, so is the Elf on the Shelf! If you have been with us a long time, you know we have brought you a new Elf on the Shelf Ideas daily (in the months of November and December) for the past seven years. You can view our Elf on the Shelf Master List for a full list of ideas including every idea we have ever done.

Of course, if Elf comes back, he/she needs a really cute Elf on the Shelf arrival idea! First, let’s talk about the Elf doll.

Does Dollar Tree have Elf on the Shelf?

The original Elf on the Shelf doll only comes in a box with a book.  This set typically costs in the $30 range and is rarely is Elf on the Shelf on sale. Because of the price range, you will not find the Elf on the Shelf set at the Dollar Store. You can find this brand at many major retailers including Target, Amazon, Walmart.

That being said, for this DIY ornament craft you will need your own Elf on the Shelf doll or you can use the Dollar Tree Elf plush in boy or girl.

DIY Dollar Store Christmas Craft Supplies

For this DIY Christmas wreath, most supplies can be found at the Dollar Tree. For the DIY Dollar Store Christmas decorations you cannot find, Hobby Lobby, Amazon, or your local craft store are all great alternatives so you don’t spend a ton of money.

Supplies:

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll(s)
  • Dollar Tree Pool Noddle (also consider wire wreath frame, grapevine wreath or styrofoam wreaths circles)
  • Dollar Store Ornaments (large, medium and small ornaments bring a nice mixture)
  • Wooden Letters (these are from Hobby Lobby, but similar one inch letters are here)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Mini Christmas Pom-Poms (search the Dollar Store or similar ones here)

Frugal tip: Save money on new ornaments and use your old ornaments you no longer use on the Christmas tree or shop a flea market for vintage ornaments.

Craft tip: Want to raid your craft supplies? Other Christmas craft supplies you can bring into your Dollar Tree ornament wreath craft are small or large jingle bells, faux greenery, pine cones, or burlap ribbon for a pretty bow.

How to make a Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath

Elf on the Shelf Arrival Craft

To begin, Katelyn says gather all of your materials.

Using your hands or pliers, remove the tops off of the ornaments. This step is a bit of a hassle but makes the ornaments much easier to glue on later. Put the Christmas balls aside.

Dollar Tree Christmas Ornaments

Take your wreath frame (pool noddle) and cut bottom of the wreath circle with scissors or a knife. This will give your Christmas wreath an arch shape. This step is completely optional.

Start with the larger ornaments and begin gluing on the ornaments in a cluster kind of way. It does not have to be perfect.

DIY Christmas Ball Wreath

After the larger ornament goes on, add medium ornaments and small ornaments keeping in that cluster type of formation. Continue to wrap around the front and edge of the wreath. You will have hot glue strings along the way.

DIY Ornament Wreath Craft

When your whole wreath is glued with ornaments, fill in some of the gaps with mini Christmas pom-poms. Put your wreath to the side.

DIY Ornament Wreath with Pom-Poms

Lay out your message with your small wooden letters. This can say “I am back” “I missed you” or even a common Christmas quote message like “Merry Christmas!”

I personally like to count how many characters I use in the the message and start with the center character. For example for the message “I am back” there are 9 characters (7 letters and 2 spaces.) The middle character is a space. So I will put the m and b of centered from the center of the wreath and work my way to the right and left gluing one letter at a time. Have grace and forgiveness when laying down these letters. It can be hard depending on how 3-demensional your wreath is.

Elf on the Shelf Arrival Christmas Wreath

Voila! Your entire wreath is complete!

Have fun with this Christmas wreath. You could even use your ornament arch and have Elf drive through the center in a car or even an airplane. Perhaps set up an entire parade welcoming the fantastic arrival of your family elf.

Using your finished wreath’s leftover supplies, I would love to see want additional DIY Dollar Store Christmas decorations you make!

Get those small hands crafting. These Dr. Seuss Activities for preschool create some of the cutest crafts for kids. Of course they can be applied to kindergarten, homeschool, and other aged children. From Cat in the Hat to the Lorax, let’s get ready to create some of the most adorable Dr. Seuss Crafts.

Dr. Seuss Activities for Preschool

While Arts & Crafts are often looked at as a fun preschool activity, they actually have huge importance on the development of preschoolers. Most arts and crafts activities consist of moving fingers and hands, developing fine motor skills, muscles strength and the improvement of control. They also include decision making and understanding the purpose of scissors, glue placement, shapes that come together to create a larger picture. Blending crafts can also take place with creating a love of early literacy using many popular and well-loved children’s books.

Who is Dr. Seuss?

Dr. Seuss is a famous writer and cartoonist who published over 60 Children’s books. He was born in 1904 and died in 1991, but with his death was not lost the enjoyment of his beloved books. Dr. Seuss books are a great way to introduce stories, new vocabulary and a little silly humor into the young minds of preschoolers.

Popular Dr. Seuss Books for Preschoolers

  • The Cat in the Hat

  • Green Eggs and Ham

  • Oh, The Places You’ll Go

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas

  • One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

  • Fox in Socks

Dr. Seuss Day

Dr. Seuss Day is every March 2nd. It’s Dr. Seuss’s Birthday but is also Read Across America Day, a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually. During this date, preschools, schools and libraries honor the children’s author Dr. Seuss and the importance of early literacy.

Where to Buy Dr. Seuss Books Cheap

When looking for cheap Dr. Seuss books, there are a number of places to start. First, nothing is cheaper than free. You can find free Dr. Seuss books from the library and checking them on on loan. Return when you class is done with the readings. Another idea is putting a request out into the internet. A great place to look for used Dr. Seuss Books is in a local Buy Nothing Group. Facebook is a good place to start.

If you strike out at both the library and an online forum, try to locate used books at BetterWorldBooks. I suggest ordering well ahead of the date of your lesson. If you want new Dr. Seuss Books cheap, try Amazon but buy in a set (not individually.) This Dr. Seuss Beginner Book includes many of Dr. Seuss most popular books including…

Tell the Easter story to kids with these easy-to-read Easter Bible Verses printable PDF. Download 40 short Easter scripture cards to ready daily with your family. Read in the ERV translation, they make understanding the resurrection of Jesus simple and clear.

Easter Bible Verses Printable

If you’ve been a Christian awhile, you likely know the story of Jesus’s life and death. Sometimes knowing the story to well, makes it a challenge to know where to begin.

For our family’s next set of scripture cards, I wanted to focus on a joyful season. While there is mourning in the story of the death of Christ, there is joy in his resurrection.

In order for these cards to meet the needs of all our family, I focused on the translation. In these ERV (easy-to-read) Easter Bible Verses for Kids, the Easter story is told in a format children can follow along and understand.

Easter Bible Verses for Kids

What makes these 40 cards set apart. These Easter scripture cards are in the ERV translation.  The easy-to-read Easter bible verses for kids clearly explain the Easter Story. They focus on the life of Jesus, his death, resurrection of Christ, and the Gospel message.

The main focus in the forty cards for Easter are Christ being raised from the dead and accepting Christ. There is very brief focus on the death of Christ.

Key People In the Easter Story

In understanding the Easter story, share with your child some of the main characters.

  • Jesus – The son of God. Rose from the dead on the third day.
  • Judas – Betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
  • Thomas – One of Jesus’s followers. Did not believe Jesus rose from the dead until he saw and felt his wounds.
  • Mary Magdalene – A friend of Jesus. One of the first to see the tomb was empty.
  • Disciples –  Also known as the 12 Apostles or Jesus’s followers.
  • Pontius Pilate – The governor who gave permission to execute Jesus of Nazareth in Jerusalem.
  • Soldiers – Responsible for Jesus’s death. Also guarded the tomb where Jesus was buried.

You can explain these characters to your kids before sharing the Easter scripture verses.

Short Easter Bible Verses

In this Easter Bible Verse Bundle are forty scripture cards to explain the Easter story.

These ERV story sequencing cards are grouped to give a brief history of Jesus and share about his betrayal, his death, and give living hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Lastly, in summary, the set include the message of the cross. These bible also include Bible verses that summarize the Gospel and lead followers to accept Jesus as your savior.

Elf on the Shelf Snowman Game

Gather your supplies and create this quick and easy Elf idea. In our free Elf on the Shelf printable library, we included this snowman head and printable carrots to recreate this

Elf on the Shelf Supplies Needed

  • The Elf on the Shelf Doll
  • Tape
  • Pin the Nose on the Snowman Free Printable
  • Ribbon Blindfold
  • Optional: Elf Prop Stands (we love this one.)

Tape is my favorite for many Elf ideas. I cut out the carrots and rolled tape behind them to stick on the elves hands. I also used tape to stick the snowman to the wall. Because of photography, my Elf on the banister is taped to the wall. You could also put an Elf prop below your elf if you wanted to do something similar without taping your Elf.

This is what I call a fun, lazy Elf on the Shelf idea. It was quick and easy to do, but it also created a really cute and fun elf scenario. The kids will love seeing it.
