Interested in an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade? Take that artificial Christmas tree and make it look brand new with this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack. Snow flocking is so incredibly easy and can be done in an few simple steps!

Many of you remarked on the Christmas Hacks you adopted from this post. Two of my favorite are the pool noodle wreath and hanging Christmas wreaths on kitchen cabinents.

I have another idea for you. If you have been on the hunt for a new Christmas tree, but have a lovely working on at home, trying this DIY SnoFlock Christmas Hack! It’s an Inexpensive Tree Upgrade and will totally change the look and feel of your home.

To get started you will need to purchase a 2 lb or 5 lb page of SnoFlock. This Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder will decorate an Artificial Christmas Tree with a Snowy Ice Flake look.

SnoFlock Supplies

Safety first, as when working with any airborne product, I suggest using a simple face mask, protective gloves and safety goggles. SnowFlcok is all natural, but you definitely want to keep the dust exposure to a minimum.

Take your tree outdoors, and lay down a protective tarp or drop cloth to prevent unnecessary cleanup.

Three things needed for DIY Snow Flock

  • SnoFlock The Original Premium Artificial Decorative Self-Adhesive Snow Flock Powder with IceFlakes
  • Strainer with Single Fine Mesh
  • Plastic Spray Bottle (to spray water)

How to Flock a Christmas Tree

These SnoFlock directions are simple.

Step 1: For your snow flock application, you will need a few common household items: a spray bottle of water, a kitchen sifter, a simple face mask, safety googles, gloves and a protective tarp or drop cloth.

Step 2: To begin, generously spray your Christmas tree with water, this will help set SnoFlock into place.

Step 3: Fill your sifter half full with SnoFlock. With one hand, begin to shake or sift so that SnoFlock snow falls on the tree. As the snow is falling, spray water on the falling powder with your other hand. Repeat this process covering the entire Christmas tree.

Step 4: Once a light snow is achieved on your tree, begin the process of creating thicker areas by sprinkling the Ice Flakes left in your sifter onto the wet SnoFlock.

Step 5: Simply use your spray bottle with water and spray all of the SnoFlock until it is saturated, but not dripping wet.

Step 6: Allow you newly SnoFlocked creation to dry!

More details on Seasons Reflection.

SnoFlock Tips!

Concerned about your talent? Buy a Christmas Tree or Wreath from The Dollar Tree and experiment there first. Then move on to your home Christmas tree.

After talking to a friend about her experience, I asked if her’s shed. She said not really. She noticed more shedding with her artificial pine needs than the SnoFlock.

After reading reviews from others, you do want to be careful with storage as the snow can fall off a little. You would store it carefully as any fake tree.

We, personally, have a snow flocked tree and have no trouble with hanging ornaments.

How Much Snow Flock Do I Buy?

SnoFlock 2 Pound Bag:  Perfect for medium sized trees and a variety of SnoFlock looks, or to adore wreaths, garlands, or other festive foliage. This bag will cover a 3 to 5 foot tree with a very heavy, blizzard look or 7-8 foot tree with a medium snow look.

SnoFlock 5 Pound Bag: A 5 lb bag can cover a standard seven-foot Christmas tree to a heavy, blizzard white appearance.

The best thing about buying from Amazon is you can always order more and it will arrive in 1 to 2 days time, especially with Amazon Prime.

SHARE WITH US!

Let us know how flocking an artificial Christmas tree or Christmas wreath works for you! We would love if you would share your final product on this Pinterest Pin or in our comment section below!

I know for me, personally, I always try something else after seeing other’s experience. I live by Amazon reviews, anyone else?

Good luck and happy flocking!

Elf Hack You Won’t Forget

Are you getting ready!?! T-minus 2 days until your North Pole Visitor Arrives. We have the best Elf on the Shelf Hack You Won’t Forget – literally, you won’t forget!

Elf on the Shelf Ideas

WE can’t wait for Elf’s return! Are you excited? If you have been with us a long time, you know we have brought you a new Elf on the Shelf Ideas daily (in the months of November and December) for the past six years. You can view our Elf on the Shelf Master List for a full list of ideas including every idea we have ever done.

For many of these Elf on the Shelf ideas, make sure you have an elf that can bend. You can do that easily with our Bendable Elf on the Shelf tutorial.  You also can sign up for all of our Free Elf on the Shelf Printables here.

Elf on the Shelf Hack You Won’t Forget

It was a number of years I went from soundly sleeping to bug eyed away with the reminder “I forgot to move the elf!”  I also recall mornings where the kids woke and asked “Why did elf not move!?” Though, it’s only a few “short” weeks, it is hard remembering to move Elf. This Elf on the Shelf Hack is one you won’t forget – it literally will not let you forget!

It finally dawned on me, I needed the help of my electronic device. I set my phone each evening to have a calendar alarm and at 9 PM each night, my calendar would alert me EOTS. You can likely guess the acronym meaning – Elf on the Shelf. I figured having an acronym was less telling than spelling it out! This calendar reminder saved me for years. Often time, in anticipating of it going off, I had already moved Elf by the time it alerted me.

If elf cannot always move at night – let’s face it, sometimes some nights are just too much, use this Elf on the Shelf Letter to Older Kids. This lets your child know, sometimes elf moves happen during the day!

Elf Printable Costumes

One of our popular set of printables is our Elf on the Shelf Costumes. We had fun partnering with The Elf Guru to create the Christmas Police and an Elf Spy. This year instead of a couple costumes, we wanted to come to you with the ultimate Elf Costume Bundle. We found adorable ideas that will excite your kids for multiple days and will make life easier on you!

Elf on the Shelf Costume Ideas

The reason I love our newest costume kit is because it brings forth seven Elf on the Shelf ideas. If you are someone who does Scout Elf for 24 days, that covers almost a third of your days. So many cute ideas for your red elves from Ugly Christmas Sweaters to a pirate costume, and even Elf super hero idea!

Elf Camping Props

The Camping Elf Costume: One of my favorite ideas, four props to use for Elf go to camping. From a warm fire pit, a backpack, compass and flash light! Pose with some of your creative Barbie and doll props. Just add rocks to your fire pit!

Staging 3-D Tip: For the campfire (and the reindeer), I created a little perpendicular base by cutting a strip, cutting a tiny slit in the middle of it, cutting a tiny slit in the bottom of the reindeer and the fire cutouts, then fitting the slits together in a perpendicular way. This way I could stand them up and make them more 3D.

Elf on Shelf Photo Booth Props

Christmas Accessories and Props Costume: Two days to get your elf photo booth ready for Christmas. Nine cute accessories to give your North Pole visitor some sparkly this holiday season. (See above, in the camping props, how we got our reindeer to stand!)

3-D Costume Tip: I found the double sided tape for the face masks to worked pretty well across the forehead of the hat.

Elf on the Shelf Ugly Christmas Sweater Printable

Ugly Christmas Sweater Costume: Have an ugly Christmas Sweater? Elf does too. In fact, he/she has two! Everyone get your tacky Christmas sweater came on and celebrate the season. For this Ugly Sweater Costume, we used this My Life As Reversible Background for Use with Dolls, Classroom & Christmas. Adorable for Elf staging ideas. See more of where to buy and Ugly Christmas Sweater for Elf on the Shelf.

Elf on the Shelf Christmas Tree Costume

Christmas Tree Costume: Of course the Christmas tree looks beautiful in your home. But our red Elf has some competition: Who wore it better?

Elf on the Shelf Super Hero Costume Printable

Elf Super Hero Costume: It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Scout Elf here to save the day! Dress your red elves in two super hero costumes. Perfect for one, two or many North Pole elves.

Elf on the Shelf Pirate Costume Printable

Elf Pirate Costume: Sail the seven seas looking for some booty. Pirate’s booty. We have the cutest accessories to turn your Scout Elf on the Shelf into a pirate. Enjoy our map and hide 10 candy canes in the house! It makes not only for a cute Elf costume, but also make a fun activity/adventure for your kids.

Elf on the Shelf Staging Supplies

Costume Elf Props & Supplies

You will need to get these costumes into place.

  • The Elf on the Shelf
  • Elf Costume Printables and Props
  • Craft supplies: scissors, tape, push pins, Velcro, etc.
  • Optional: themed accessories – camping, super hero, Christmas, pirate, etc

Elf on the Shelf Printable Costumes

We wanted to give you a quick glimpse into how to attach many of these costumes. There are three ways. Push pins, keep Elf up higher when using them. Velro. Simple, sticks well to the fabric and peels easy. Tape. My favorite, go-to craft supply solution.

I found the best way hands down to secure the paper to the felt fabric of the Elf was using those sticky Velcro squares (similar to these) sold at most Walmart locations and craft stores. The double sided tape didn’t hold very well and became fuzzy too fast wen attaching props to the fabric. The velcro was pretty sticky the entire time and held stronger, yet was easy to remove and did not shred the fabric upon removal. The squares come as 7/8″ – 1″ squares. I cut into 4 little squares to be smaller on the Elf clothes and hands.

Roll a Santa Dice Game Printable and How to Play Directions.

Roll a Santa Dice Game Printable

This is such a cute game! Played with multiple players, the first one to roll a Santa wins. You can play it in the classroom with a large class of students or play at home over the winter break to eliminate shrills of “I’m bored!” The game can be played with one person but it more fun being played with 2 or more.

Roll a Santa Dice Supplies:

  • Roll a Santa Dice and Santa Template
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Crayons or colored pencils

Roll a Santa Directions:

First print out your dice template and Santa template.

Next cut out your dice template.

Fol at the dotted lines to shape your dice.

Apply glue to the edges of the dice (looks like a trapezoid.)

Fold into the shape of a dice.

Apply tacky glue edges into the dice and press together to close.

Apply tape to any exposed edges

Finally enjoy the game.

How to to Play Roll a Santa Game

It’s very easy to play this game. You need at least two players if turning this into a game (of course, your child can play alone too.)

Play one rolls the dice and draws the Santa part facing the top of the dice.

Play two rolls the dice and draws he Santa part facing the top of the dice.

This occurs with player one, two, three and so on.

If at any point during the game, the player rolls directions to draw apart of the Santa that they already have drawn, that player looses a turn.

Player one and two (etc.) alternate until the first person has the entire Santa drawn. The first person to draw a complete Santa, is the winner!

  2. Sign in or create a Staples account on their print service page.
  3. Return to Staples print service page.
  4. Go to Start Project.
  5. Go to Documents Printing. Select Browse.
  6. Select the Buy Now Button under color.
  7. On the left column, choose add file.
  8. Select upload.
  9. Select done.
  10. Give your job a name.
  11. Make sure your project is single sided. The orientation should be landscape.
  12. I changed my media to 8.5×10 and the media to 67 lb cover stock (I prefer a card stock feel over printer paper feel.)
  13. Select add to cart.
  14. Proceed to checkout. My total was $0.65 for one print. You can choose to ship to your home or to pick up at your local store. Pay online and show your invoice when you pick up (I just show the order number on my phone at pick-up.) The order invoice will arrive in your email inbox.
  15. Enjoy!

*Note: these Staple print service steps were added in Winter 2019 The directions may change as the website changes. They should give you a general outline of how to upload and order a print on Staples.com.
