I came across this cool idea on Pinterest the other day and just had to share it with you!  It is a large-scale, large impact portrait idea for $20 or less, depending on your materials from Infarrantly Creative.

They used Staples Engineering Prints to reproduce the large image for just $5!  To get there, head to Staples and look under Copy & Print at the Engineering Prints.  Click ‘Get Started’ to upload an image and select your paper size.  Prices start at $1.99 for 18″ x 24″ and end at $4.99 for 36″ x 48″.  This paper is a lightweight paper and only comes in black and white.  You can select to pick it up in-store and pay nothing for shipping.

The projector featured in this project is the Aiptek Pocket Cinema and it’s pretty pricey!  You can try a making a homemade projector OR consider calling your library to see if they rent out projectors.  If they don’t, maybe see if you can borrow one from your office or someone else’s.

Head to my Pinterest for a look and instructions!  Very cool and a great deal!

Closed. Giveaway – BRITAX FRONTIER 85 SICT

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations goes to Gina.
Well we have done it, my eldest daughter has graduated up to a Booster – The BRITAX FRONTIER 85 SICT. If you have been a long time reader, you probably have seen how Britax has been with our family for awhile now and nothing makes me more confident than the safety and comfort this company has brought to both my girls over the years.

For the past 2 1/2 years, my daughter has ridden in the luxury of the Britax Marathon. When making the transition to our new Frontier, I wanted to get my daughter’s thoughts. I, as a parent, knew the many features I liked in Britax, but as a regular rider – I wanted to know what she thought. She especially liked how the seat was less like a “car seat” and more like a booster transition seat. It made her feel older (after all it was given to her on her birthday). She also was very excited about the two cup holders. They were a nice addition from the last car seat (a Britax Marathon.)

Features of the Frontier 85 SICT:

  • First my Favorite – Side Impact Cushion Technology. This is great for protecting your child’s head and side during crash forces. The actual cushions and foam will absorb 45% by diverting crash forces away from your child and providing extra protection. Sides are also protected with True Side Impact Protection. The car seat construction keeps your child’s head, neck and spine “in true” or aligned.
  • Unlike traditional boosters, there also is a 85-pound Five-Point Harness Seat Capacity allows your child to remain harnessed up to 85 lbs. Once older, place your child in  booster mode to 120 lbs

Also Check Out:

  • Tangle Free, Five-Point Harness with 10 harness height positions (up to 20″) and three buckle positions for a snug and secure fit as your child grows
  • Easy-Remove Cover allows easy cleaning without disassembling or uninstalling the car seat
  • Armrests help provide a secure fit and a comfortable place to rest tired arms
  • Premium Lower LATCH Connectors for a quick and simple installation featuring a push button for easy release
  • Color-Coded Vehicle Belt Guides indicate the path and positioning of the vehicle lap and shoulder seat belt
  • Integrated Cup Holders are designed to fit common beverages such as 20 oz reusable water bottles
  • Certified for Aircraft Travel in Harness Mode

Is your child ready for a Booster? Britax has a great Booster Seat Basics guide letting you know what car seat is right for your child and at what age and size. Learn more on Car Seats 101.

As frugal followers, I wanted to share with you a hot new deal from Britax! 7 Ideas for Summer Fun with Your Kids

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

April 29, 2012 by Ashley at Frugal Coupon Living Filed Under: Summer

published date: April 29, 2012
modified datt: April 28,2012

Every year kids and parents look forward to summer vacation, but a few days spent cooped up in the house can make everyone a little crazy. If this sounds familiar, check out these seven ideas for summer fun.

1. Make a T-shirt

Most kids love to make crafts, but crayons and construction paper get boring after a while. Instead of pulling out the art supplies, head to
your local store or garage sale and purchase some inexpensive, solid-colored t-shirts. Kids can use fabric or acrylic paint, markers, dye or just about anything to make a shirt that they can wear proudly. You can also do this with hats or visors and inexpensive canvas sneakers.

2. Go on a Picnic

Enjoying the great outdoors is a must during the summer, and one of the easiest ways to do that is by going on a picnic. Gather your kids up to make a menu and get them involved with the cooking and preparation. Assign each child an important job to do (gather silverware, make sandwiches, count juice boxes), and pick a table at your favorite park or even a sunny spot in your own backyard where you can enjoy your meal. As an added bonus, you and the kids can bake cookies or cupcakes for your excursion.

3. Have a Scavenger Hunt

This one is great for new readers who need to keep their skills sharp during the long weeks spent away from school and can be as easy or as
elaborate as you would like. Simply make a list of common items your kids can find in your house or yard. These might include a rock, a coin, a red toy, a blue crayon – you get the idea. If your kids can’t yet read, draw pictures or cut them from magazines. Have a prize ready for whomever finds all of the items.

4. Arrange a Reading Contest

This one helps your kids stay on top of their education and it can be fun, too. Set up a goal number of books and any other rules you may
want to include (such as books must be at least 20 pages long) and whenever your little readers reach a certain milestone reward them with stickers, trips to their favorite parks, sweet treats or movie night. Save the biggest reward for the largest number of books.

5. Go Camping Inside

This one doesn’t involve a tent or even the outdoors. Allow your kids to set up camp in your living or family room by bringing pillows,
blankets, sleeping bags and a bag of their favorite toys, books and snacks. Pop some popcorn and put a movie in the DVD player to add some extra fun.

6. Have Your Own Summer Olympics

Summer is a great time of year to get your kids moving, and what better way to do that than having an Olympic-style competition? This
isn’t your average Olympics, though. Depending on how much money you want to spend, you will have to get creative with your competitions – three-legged races and egg and spoon races are always fun. You can set up obstacle courses with lawn furniture and use items such as beanbags, water balloons and bubbles to create other competitions. Just don’t forget medals or rewards for the winners.

7. Volunteer at Your Local Animal Shelter

This idea is inexpensive and can teach your child about helping others. Most animal shelters allow people to come walk or play with the homeless pets. Just be sure you check ahead of time to make sure there are no age requirements for volunteers.

Allison Smart loves planning summer activities for her family, which includes her husband, Mike, and three kids, Luke, Matt, and Sara. A
favorite family activity is boating at the nearby lake. When they needed a good rate on their boat insurance, Allison and Mike looked no
further than http://www.boatinsurance.org/

Starfish Burlap Wreath

With summer vacation just around the corner, this beach inspired wreath will have your guests dreaming of sand between their toes. Look around the house to see if you have any past beach vacation souvenirs to get this simple and cute wreath started. Or the next time you’re at the beach encourage your children to collect items that you can turn into crafty keepsakes to remind the whole family of shoreline memories!

All you need is:

  • foam wreath form
  • ½ a yard of burlap cloth (cut into approximately 2 in. x 8 in. strips)
  • fish netting and sea shells from the craft store or your last beach vacation

To assemble the wreath, cut your burlap into strips. Simply tie the strips in knots around the wreath, until the whole wreath is covered. The tied strips will fray and not be perfectly the same, but we think that is what makes it cute! With a hot glue gun add any beach themed embellishments. It couldn’t be any simpler than that, and we hope that your beach dreams become reality real soon!

This unique grapevine wreath can’t help but catch your attention with its nontraditional, but awfully spring time vibe.

Things to gather:
All of ours were found at Hobby Lobby – get a 40% off coupon until 3/24

  • Spray paint of your choice, but we sure hope you choose something bright and cheery!
  • Grosgrain ribbon to coordinate with your paint choice.
  • A wooden initial or other embellishment such as eggs, small bird nests, etc.
