January 9, 2011 by FrugalCouponLiving Filed Under: Coupons, Rebates

Print your coupon HERE for a full-sized Aveeno lotion ($10.99 value) wyb 3 products from participating brands. Brands include: Ambi, Aveeno, Clean & Clear, Purpose, Lubriderm and ROC. There are coupons for many of these products HERE.

In addition, there is supposed to be an offer for a full-sized Aveeno product plus up to $25 worth of additional savings in this Sunday’s (1/9) paper. This may be the same offer; but you can only submit once per household. I have not seen these coupons listed in the insert previews, so I can’t tell you exactly where it will be. Just make sure to check your paper front to back!

I will let you know of any great deals on these products that would make this rebate an even better deal!

Update: Check out Publix where Aveeno products are currently on sale with the Green Advantage Buy Flyer or check out the Rite Aid Scenario for the week of 1/9.

FREE Chore Chart Template

In keeping with giving you ideas to help you get the year off right, why not finally get the kids on doing chores?  From what I’ve read, 3 years old seems to be a pretty good age to start assigning chores.  Obviously they should be age appropriate, though!  A three-year old could have chores that you maybe assist them with a little, like getting themselves dressed, brushing teeth, cleaning their room or feeding the pets.  You could also put having a cheerful attitude on the chore chart if that’s something you’re struggling with or having a cheerful attitude while doing the chores listed above – not pouting when they’re told it’s time to get dressed, etc.

We have not started chores quite yet as my oldest is not quite three; but my friend put together her own chart that she updates from time to time as her children grow or ‘master’ certain chores.  It is a word document using a table and clip art to represent the chore along with the days of the week.  She prints it and gets it laminated at FedEx/Kinkos (or anywhere else that does laminating), punches a couple of holes in the top for a ribbon loop and hangs it on the bulletin board.  Using a dry-erase marker, she then checks off chores as they’re completed each day!

Download this chart and modify for your home!

Note: In Word, to modify the border, click Page Layout and then Page Borders.  To modify the name, click Insert, then Header, then Edit Header.

Budget Recipe: Easy Potato Leek Soup

This post may contain affiliate links or ads. Read my privacy policy and disclosure policy here.

January 5, 2011 by FrugalCouponLiving Filed Under: Recipe

published date: January 05, 2011
modified datt: January 04,2011

It’s that time of year when soup sounds good just about every night to make us feel warm and cozy.  This one fits the bill and it’s cheap too.  Probably the most expensive thing in this recipe is the optional bacon; but if you are stockpiling, you may already have some in your freezer!  If you don’t have any, it really is optional – perfectly tasty without it.

POTATO AND LEEK SOUP

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, chopped
2 leeks, chopped (can do white part only or all of it – your preference)
2 tablespoons flour
4 cups chicken stock
3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup low fat milk
Optional: Crumbled bacon on top when served

  • Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
  • Raise heat to medium-high and add onions and leeks.  Sauté gently until soft.
  • Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Gradually stir in stock.
  • Add potatoes, bring to a boil. Reduce to Medium-High until potatoes are fork tender – about 10-15 minutes.
  • Stir in milk and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Puree soup in a blender. Return to pot on low until ready to serve.

Serves 6.

Enjoy!
