Candy Care Package great for A Week Away #Summer #Camp

Summer officially began this week and for a lot of kids that means it’s time to pack up the overnight bags and head off to camp or Grandma’s and Grandpa’s. We have fond memories of all the summer time joy that goes along with sleep away camp. One of the best parts of the day was mail time in the mess hall! Your kids are sure to be happy campers with something sweet tucked in their bag and some mail to brighten their day!

Whether going away to a friends, family members or to summer camp, here is seven days of sweet sunshine for your camper. Fill each day with some candy or goodies and a note. They will love it!

Be sure to print/download the Camp Candy Care Package Tags.

Other ways to send love from home to your campers are:

  • Postcards mailed each day with one letter written on each. By the end of their stay the message might spell something like, “I miss you!”
  • A personalized pillowcase with sweet dream messages.
  • A CD or playlist for their iPod with their favorite music.
  • A recorded message card so a camper can hear a familiar voice from home.
  • A care package of their favorite homemade baked goods.
  • A candy gram. Use the names of candy bars to write a special note

Note: Some camps do not allow for candy to be packed. How could you offer an alternative to this package?

We’ve been camping all week at Simply Sprout and we’re keeping on these happy trails through the weekend! Come visit us at  www.simplysprouteducate.com.

There is a wide selection of flower embellishments!

Easy and Frugal No Sew Fleece Tie Blanket – Tutorial and Video!

no-sew-fleece-tie-blanket-logo

I really think I have creative ideas but I don’t consider myself artistic…

First, I lack time. Second, I lack follow-through.

One item I can say that was VERY easy and CHEAP to make was a No Sew Fleece Tie Blanket.

What You Need:
1 square Fleece Blanket (60″ x 60″ is what I used)
1 Additional Square Fleece Blanket
Scissors

Optional:
Square 4″x4″ template or index card
Rotary Cutter
Measuring Tape

I like making the fleece blankets coordinating but not the same. I got a solid pink and a cupcake pattern.

Directions:
1.) Lay down your first square fleece
2.) Lay your second square fleece lined up on top. Make sure all edges line up. Trim where needed.
3.) Cut a 4 inch by 4 inch square on each corner.
4.) Cut strips about every two finger lengths (an inch and a half – give or take) along the edges. Cut about 4 inches in length.
5.) Once strips are cut along all 4 sides of the blanket, choose a corner. Tie the right bottom of one side with the left top strip of the other side of the blanket. Begin tying all strips in a double knot.
6.) Repeat along all four edges/side.

Ta-da! You are done with your easy No Sew Fleece Blanket. Makes a great gift!

Watch the video below for a complete 2 minute tutorial.

Do not forget the Michael’s, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Coupons for added discounts when shopping for your supplies!
