When I think of Cracker Barrel, I think of delicious meals – their cooked apples being one of my favorites, the rocking chairs on the front porch and browsing the Old Country Store while waiting to eat or even afterwards!  Before I had a family of my own and traveled with my parents, we knew that a stop at Cracker Barrel was a must for a road trip that we always looked forward to with great anticipation!  Mainly because of the food; but also to look for unique items in the Old Country Store.

Have you thought about visiting a Cracker Barrel near you to check off some items on your Christmas shopping list?  As I stated above, they have many items that you just won’t find anywhere else, from old school candy to recipe books, seasonal decorations, candles and toys for kids.  The thing I like about most, if not all, of the items they carry is that they are simple and they are many times educational or skill-developing.  I don’t know about your house; but in mine it seems that the toys that have less electronics are usually the ones that get more attention in the long run!

One of the new items at Cracker Barrel are the Butterflies Dolls.  This is a line of 8 dolls made exclusively for the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store!   Think Pottery Barn; but way cheaper!  They each have their own personality and name!  The Butterflies are brought to life by your child’s imagination rather than batteries, helping them think more creatively.  Each doll comes with her own outfit and you can purchase more clothes separately.  You can also buy extra accessories and furniture to aide in creating a more lifelike environment to play with your new doll.

For boys, we got to have a look at the WudWorkers Airplane.  It has 75 wood pieces that need to be assembled to play with the plane.  I just see tons of quality time with parent and child putting this together!  We also got to take a look at the Wood Train Set which comes with a track, train cars and other accessories. The train cars attach by magnets on either end which make them fun to move around. A Sock Monkey Crocheted Hat and accessories for the Butterflie Doll we received rounded out our Cracker Barrel Old Country Store pack!

    We love board and card games. Apples to apples is a favorite. No trip or game night is complete without a deck of cards. The older kids like to play the card game Golf and the youngest likes to play War.

    I love that peg brain teaser game. They’re the ones that Cracker Barrel usually has out on their tables. Kind of funny that I can’t remember what it;s called. :)

    Candyland…My daughter just turned 3 and is really getting into the classic board games. She’s loving candyland right now. Therefore, that’s ALL we’ve been playing!

    We just discovered Quelf and it’s a great game to play with friends – although you may need some liquid courage to perfom some of the goofy tasks!

    I’ve never been one for games my whole life, but I used to LOVE to play school or house when I was a kid! My son loves toplay card games, so I will play those with him, especially Uno.

    My kiddos (and, admittedly, my hubby and I) love to play with their big wooden barn… (it’s as big as a Melissa & Doug wooden dollhouse, yet it’s a barn). Our kiddos (ages 2 & 3 / girl & boy) love to use their “Little People” animals and people to play with in the barn… as well as bringing in LOTS of fun things from outside in … to make it really feel like a barn! Right now it’s full of acorns, dried leaves, twigs, etc. My son and I, recently finished making 2 beds for the “Little People” to sleep in out of little twigs and glue. It was a lot of fun, not just for him, but for me too! :)
    We also decorated the barn last year for Christmas … and plan to again this year… last year we made it a bit like a Nativity Scene. And, all of the animals and people we didn’t have, the kiddos, hubby and I had a lot of fun making! (along with the Nativity Scene… was a Christmas tree in the barn “loft”… :)

    I like like like (rather, LOVE) Frugal Coupon Living on Facebook, and now am a new “friend/follower” of Cracker Barrel via Facebook! They’ve got some GREAT things… I’m a newbie to CB, as I have never been to one before… I’ll have to do some research to see if there are any near our home. :)
    And…. I’d LOVE to check out the Old Country Store!!!
    (so if I’m not the big winner, I’ll def. be searching for the nearest CB and Old Country Store… maybe that should be put on my Christmas list :p)
