I am so excited about a race coming to Tallahassee (where I live) and many other cities around the country!
The Color Run – The Happiest 5k on the Planet
The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.
The 5K run began in a few select cities in January of 2012, and has exploded into an all out national event. The Run is a five-kilometer race (3.1 miles) and is less about your perfect time and more about having the time of your life. It is an un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,”. The cleaning off doesn’t begin there. Even more colored powder is used to create happiness, fun, memories and the perfect fashionable statement – your new rainbow outfit!
You can choose to run this race as a team or as a solo runner. If you create a “Color Team”, you register as a (4 minimum/infinity max) unit rather than as an individual. You get to pick a fun team name (try to think outside the box.) You then get to run/walk together and “help” each other get really colored up over the 5 color kilometers. There is no “relay” component. It is important to note that team members can finish together as a unit or separately. This helps if there are different skill levels on your team.
