I have always been a cat lover. In my 30 (some) years of life, I have had six cats. These cats came of all different breads and behaviors. My love for cats has fallen on our oldest daughter and last May, her her 9th birthday, she got her very first cat. There were a few conditions for this cat adoption… 1.) She had to get a male 2.) She had to get an orange cat 3.) She had to get a cat that was at least 2 years old (I am a mean, picky mama!) As much as she wanted a female kitten, this new addition to our home has been amazing! I have heard wonderful things about orange cats. They are naturally curious, very friendly, and well mannered and this has been true of our new cat – Big Boy (she kept his original name!)

While Big Boy has been a treat to all of us (humans) in the home, we have had trouble with our 14 year old male kitty, Moses. Moses has always been a temperamental cat. I am not sure this is the best descriptor of him, but this new “friend” to the home caused Moses to act out and pee on furniture. We are blessed to have a furniture policy were our furniture is cleaned whenever there is an accident so we frequently have someone out to the home to clean up his mess. Regardless, it makes me feel sick about the situation and has caused me to try to find a solution.

The Litter-Robot is an automatic self-cleaning litter box. Its patented sifting system automatically separates waste from clean litter, so you never have to scoop litter again!

They have just released a new, reimagined Litter-Robot III Open Air. An expansive litter chamber and larger, upward-facing entryway give the Litter-Robot III that open-air feel, making it much more inviting and comfortable for large cats. An improved, self-adjusting weight sensor can easily detect both small and large cats. (This weight sensor, tells the box when to clean.) As with all Litter-Robot units, the litter is automatically sifted after each use and waste is deposited it into a convenient drawer at the bottom. This solution uses less litter, reduces spilling and keeps me and my daughter from scooping. New features include a Drawer Full Indication, an Automatic Night Light, Sleep Mode, and an Adjustable Cycle Timer. Freedom from scooping has never been more convenient!

Highlights:

  • Great for cats big and small (5 lbs and up)
  • Self-cleans after each use
  • Reduces litter box odor
  • Saves money on litter
  • No special accessories needed
  • Great for multiple cats
  • Extra spacious litter chamber
  • Enlarged entryway
  • Drawer full indication
  • Adjustable cycle timer
  • Sleep mode & lock out features
  • Automatic night light

Every Litter-Robot is backed by a 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee and 18-Month Warranty.

What does this mean for our older kitty, Moses? Well this means he has a fresh litter box immediately after use. Often cats let you know when they are upset with their litter box waste by leaving a deposit in another location. I was done scooping litter ages ago. once my girls got old enough for this chore, they took it on. However, with kids, he litter was never cleaned as well as the days when I scooped and we noticed odor. For years, I begged for this machine to join our family and I am glad it FINALLY did.

Moses did have some trouble adjusting to his new litter box. He saw it, it sat near his older box, but he kept using the older box. The  Litter-Robot website provided some helpful tips to adjusting the cat to their new litter box.

1.) Try with treats… place treats on the step and also on the drum opening.

2.)  Leave the machine off, so it does not startle your cat until he/she is used to it.

3.) Make the old box less attractive (let the cat waste build up) – we do that well!

4.) Turn your new machine into a cardboard box. Use the box the litter-robot came in and create a hole for an opening. Cats are curious and will want to visit inside the box.

Would you like to save this?

We'll email this post to you, so you can come back to it later!

5.) Mix some of the older litter (without waste) into the Litter-Robot so the cat recognizes their smell.

The trick that worked best for us were steps 3 and 5. We let the waste build in the old box and we also moved over some of the clean litter form the old box to the Litter-Robot to give the robot the cat’s familiar smell.

I appreciate how quite the machine is. I also love the little night light. It creates not only a nice light for the home but let’s me see how dirty the box is (which is always clean!)

But wait….there is more! I know you are here to learn about the Litter-Robot Giveaway.
