Do you know what Friday, March 29th is? The release of the new the new re-imagined “Dumbo”. Walt Disney’s original, classic animated tale “Dumbo”, opened Oct. 23, 1941 and won an Oscar® for best scoring of a musical picture and was nominated for best original song for “Baby Mine.”

The new movie includes a star cast of Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Alan Arkin, Finley Hobbins, and Nico Parker. Additionally, the world famous director is Tim Burton.

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Directed by Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”), and produced by Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”), Kruger, Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”) and Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), “Dumbo” flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.

The family and I got a sneak peak into this amazing adventure. It holds your classic characters, namely the main character Dumbo, but the movie is re-imagined. A new story line with new characters. The focus is on the circus and leads to how greed and fame hurt others.   I have a very sensitive 9 year old and there were three times she cried in the movie and a few times she covered her eyes. With every Disney story line, the hero “wins” but there are struggles to get there and sometimes the struggles at the cost of an animals can be hard to see.

The cast was great, they did such a beautiful job and the imagery was breath taking – it is so amazing what can be done with a movie and computer now a days. The eyes on this sweet little elephant were amazing. He reminded me so much of my 15 month old, not for his ears, but for his captivating eyes (and his love of his mama!)

Be sure to fall back in love with Dumbo this spring.
