To help go green, I’m using old paper, mail, etc. for notepaper. I cut it up in note-sized squares, and once the front is used, I flip it over and use the back. This has really cut down on paper waste in our household.

I’ve been going green by recycling, using fans and open windows instead of running my ac, and playing a wasted power scavenger hunt game with my 4 year old. Before we leave the house and randomly throughout the day, I have her go on a hunt for things that can be turned off! We got the idea from Nick Jr, and she LOVES it! Such as cookie canisters, old socks, paper towel tubes, egg cartons, etc. Mostly for crafts but still good use! News papers are reused for cleaning glass, book covers and crafts. Used dryer sheets are used to clean mirrors… smells great! Thanks! and liked you on fb!!

We usually recycle more than we throw away
I combine errands in lieu of several short trips and keep up to date on my truck maintenance
We use stainless steel thermoses when we want to have water to go
We always have our cloth bags when shopping and the plastic bags we do get we use as trash bags or whatever else we may need them for
We try to buy gently used wood furniture instead of brand new – come to think of it we buy many things gently used instead of brand new
If a product is made from recycled materials, we usually buy it over a similar product
We get several of our monthly bills as email only, no paper bills and we pay them by phone or online. No checks, no mail
We sell or find good homes for older electronics. Previously used cell phones get donated to women’s shelters. I think that’s it for now!

I live in a community that was a pioneer in the recycling movement so we recycle as much as we can. That being said, many things one may think are recycleable are not accepted for recycling. I spread the word and educate as much as I can so that people don’t include prohibited items in their recycling which can ruin a whole batch of recycling.
