This is an interesting concept. Get a FREE kids tattoo pack featuring your number to call if your child gets lost. Perhaps good for a family vacation or amusement park this summer. Get yours HERE.

Would you like to save this?

We'll email this post to you, so you can come back to it later!

What do you think about this concept – safe or dangerous? I was always told not to make a child’s name visible on the outside of a back pack because a stranger could come up to them and call them by name – is this sort of the same?

I think it is an interesting concept. I would certainly not include my kid’s name on it and I wouldn’t use a home phone number either because those are so easy to enter into websites and find a home address. However, for the amusement parks, a cell phone number would be great. I would just apply the tatoo to the childs upper arm or maybe ankle, were it would mostly be hidden by a t-shirt sleeve or sock. Then I would make sure they knew to show to it a security person if they got seperated from us.

I think that it is interesting too…and the samples don’t show a name so it wouldn’t be too bad I think. Most kids that get lost could tell whoever finds them their name. I don’t like that it’s called a tattoo though…maybe just a washable sticker would sound better.

I was thinking the same as Jill…the upper arm somewhere not visible but where the child knows it is.

I had a scary experience one time when I was out of state with my 2 yr. old. We were eating continental breakfast in the lil continental eating area when my son ran away. My husband ran right behind him. My son was ahead of my husband by maybe 3 ft, and ran around the corner. When my husband got there, like 2 seconds later, my son was nowhere to be seen, and the elevator that was right there was closing. We looked all over the hotel for him, including all 3 floors. We later found him hiding behind a door (lil devil) that was right by the elevator as well. He had never gotten on the elevator after all. We still were really panicky not being able to find a 2 year old when you are in another state. Of course, he was not old enough to know his phone # and such. He spent the rest of the trip with a if you find me tag, cell #, etc… that we made out of a bubble necklace that we bought at the gift shop. My other 2 yr old once got lost in a group of kids that all rushed Santa Claus at the same time when he walked in the door. When the kids dispersed I could not find him. Things like this just happen too fast. I do think this is a good idea. I wouldn’t make it highly visible either, though.

No – I don’t think having your child’s name visible is a good idea but I love the idea of having your cell # on them. I’ve taken my kids to the Mall of America several times and I always have a piece of paper in their pockets with my cell # and I write my cell # on their inside arm with a pen (bad I know). Many times I’ve seen security people walking around with lost kids and I like to know that my kids just have to lift their sleeve and someone can call for me.

I agree with what the others have said. I wouldn’t put my child’s name on the tag, but having a cell number on there is a fantastic idea. My son has limited verbal skills and there is no way he could tell someone anything that would help them find us on his own. I would certainly use these “tattoos” if we we’re going to be somewhere we could accidently get seperated.
