If you are local MAKE SURE, you subscribe for the coupon of the week. This will allow you to see what HOT new coupon is available in our area each week. Don’t forget, though, new coupons are going up and down on the site daily. So print it while it is there!

Local Residents – Museum Memberships: How to Save the Most

by Frugal Coupon Living on January 5, 2010

Museums can be a blessing for parents on VERY COLD and VERY HOT days. If you are frequently looking for activity for your little ones, joining a museum is not always bad. On average, the membership cost is covered in two visits (if you visit more than twice a year you have already saved! Visit just twice and you usually break even.)

Local Readers – The Mary Brogan Museum membership might just benefit you!

    The Mary Brogan Museum

Admission Price: $10 for adult, $5 for children ($30 for a family of four)

    Family Membership: $50.

    It includes…

  • All Individual benefits for two adults and all children living at home under the age of 18
  • Discount on programs including Camp “All That”
  • Discount on birthday parties and facility rentals (not previously offered)
  • One-year FREE admission to The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science
  • Invitation to exhibit preview parties
  • 10% discount on all store merchandise
  • Subscription to newsletters and publications
  • FREE admission to more than 270 science centers world wide through ASTC
  • *FREE admission to more than 270 science centers world wide through the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) Passport Program. Please note: not all ASTC members participate in the Passport Program. To view a list of participating museums visit the ASTC Passport Program HERE.

I encourage you to take a look at the included ASTC museums. There might just be one in your area that you can use when traveling out of stay, on vacation, etc.

    Why purchase a Museum Membership?

The best way for me to share this with you is to offer an example. Buying memberships in smaller cities (Check your home town), allows for FREE admittance into larger cities (if they are part of the ASTC program.) For example, if you visiting the Orlando area, the Orlando Science Center costs $17 for adults, $10 for children, children 2 and under are free ($54 for a family of four) and a family membership is $125! If you have the Brogan Museum membership, you get in FREE!

As always, I would recommend calling your local museum to check on their own membership rates, to see if they are involved in the Association of Science-Technology Centers or ASTC Passport Program (as seen HERE and HERE.) The link to museums are participating to April 10, 2010. No updates on museums following April 10.

    Thanks, Sarah.
