Some of you realized that I had an opportunity to sneak away to Orlando this past weekend. When the kids and I head down to this sunny destination, it usually is during November. We find the crowds to be a little bit smaller and of course the days to be much more bearable. I always try to find the FREE Disney Activities like visiting Disney Marketplace or the resorts, but I also like to include education with each of our adventures.
This most recent trip, we went over to Sea World.
Educational Opportunities
When I was teaching, I took my fifth grade students on their end of the year trip to Sea World. This wrapped up in incredibly year but also was a follow through to all of our heavy science curriculum. Did you realize that Sea World offers Day Camps, Resident Camps, Sleepovers, School Programs, and Programs for just for Teachers. The girls and I also took a behind the scenes tour ($10/child, $30/adult) that allowed them to encounter a Manatee and Dolphin behind the scenes, see a Polar Bear, and pet a penguin AND A BABY SHARK!
Sea World App
Carrying around a map of the park is always necessarily for plotting your next location, especially when trying to make it to shows. Did you realize that Sea World has a SmartPhone App? Select your park (Orlando, San Antonio, or San Diego) and
Shows
The kids and I saw two shows. We LOVED the Pets Ahoy which has cats, dogs, mice and other friendly creatures big and tall which are RESCUED and ADOPTED just for the show. We also saw the classic show, One Ocean featuring Shamu. Having been there in the past, I can personally say I also love the dolphin and sea lion shows. Each is unique and brings it’s own story and personality to the audience.
